ABOUT US
Our Story
Acts Church begins with a guy born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York named Kevin Middleton. Kevin grew up in church his entire life but while he connected deeply with the traditions he was raised in, his friends whom he invited to church, struggled to connect to Jesus in the same way. This disconnect weighed on his heart and made him realize the need for a space where those who were unsure, curious, or disconnected from church could encounter Jesus without barriers. It was out of this call that Acts Church was born—a church that opens its doors to seekers, the unchurched, and the de-churched, welcoming everyone to experience the power of Christ to renew and change lives.
At Acts Church, we honor the past while embracing the present. In worship, you’ll find a contemporary atmosphere infused with the timeless traditions that ground our faith. We see ourselves as a New Testament church, reaching beyond categories, defying stereotypes, and breaking down boxes. At Acts Church, we reject labels that might limit our calling and strive to remain open to the movement of the Holy Spirit in every aspect of our ministry. We seek to be theologically rich without alienating anyone; our desire is to make deep truths accessible, without the “spooky” associations sometimes linked to faith.
Acts Church is dedicated to reaching the "lost" while building up the "found." We believe in being a missional church, called to impact the world, but also one that is welcoming and inviting to those who are already part of our community. We value both the text of Scripture and the prophetic word, standing on the authority of God’s Word while listening for His voice today. Our teaching focuses on God's principles, and yet we deeply value His presence. We don’t want people just to know about God—we want them to encounter Him. At Acts Church, you’re not just attending a service; you’re stepping into a story that began long ago and continues through each of us today.
At Acts Church, our mission is to continue the story Jesus began as described in Acts 1:1. The Book of Acts tells how Jesus’ work didn't end with His earthly ministry but was extended through His disciples. In the same way, we believe our community is called to live out His love, power, and teaching today. We are a church for everyone—whether you're a seeker, skeptic, unchurched, de-churched, or somewhere in between. Our goal is to remove all barriers to Jesus, helping people see that, regardless of background or life experiences, Jesus can transform their story.
